Kewaunee's baseball season ends with sectional loss to Amherst

The Kewaunee Storm's run in the WIAA Division 3 playoffs came to an end on Tuesday afternoon as the Storm lost to the Amherst Tigers 5-1 in a sectional semi-final at Crivitz.  Amherst jumped on the Storm early scoring four runs in the first inning and never looked back.  Pitcher Ben Lee went the distance allowing only one run on five hits while striking out eight for Amherst. Caleb Schaller scored the lone Storm run on a wild pitch in the fifth inning after hitting a triple.  Cal Ihlenfeldt took the loss, allowing only one run after the first inning.  

 

Amherst went on to beat Oconto in the sectional final 10-0 and will play at for the state championship at Fox Valley Stadium next Wednesday.
