Brewers' comeback falls short against Nats

The  Milwaukee Brewers showed life late but still fell to the Washington Nationals Saturday afternoon 8-6.

Christian Yelich opened the scoring in the first inning with a solo homer, but the Nationals responded with four runs in the bottom of the third inning to make it a 4-1 game. The inning's big blow was a two-RBI double by Nelson Cruz.

The Nationals would make it 8-1 two innings later when Juan Soto, Cruz, and Josh Bell homered. The  Brewers would make their move in the top of the seventh when Lorenzo Cain doubled home Victor Caratini and Mark Mathias homered. Luis Urias tried to lead one last final comeback when he homered in the top of the ninth inning to make it 8-6 but the Brewers would get no further.

The Brewers will try to salvage a game in Washington D.C. when they face the Nationals at 12:35 p.m.
