The Milwaukee Brewers broke an eight-game losing streak Sunday with a 4-1 win over the Washington Nationals.
Wily Adames provided much of the offense for the Brewers, doubling home a run in the first inning before hitting a two-run homer in the fifth inning to put his team up 3-0. Josh Bell would cut into the lead in the bottom half of the inning with a sacrifice fly, but Andrew McCutchen got the insurance run back with a solo shot in the ninth inning. Hoby Milner got the win in relief for the Brewers after Jason Alexander failed to go five innings despite a strong pitching performance.
The win was Craig Counsell's 563rd victory, supplanting Phil Garner has the all-time winningest manager in Brewers history.
The Brewers will have their second consecutive Monday off before playing in New York against the Mets on Tuesday.
