Rockers fall short in comeback bid

An insurance run scored by the Lakeshore Chinooks in the ninth proved pivotal as they nipped the Green Bay Rockers at Capital Credit Union Park Monday night 5-4.

Down 1-0 in the fourth inning, the Rockers scored twice in the bottom half of the frame thanks to a two-run homer by Keniel De Leon. The Chinooks would respond in the top of the fifth inning with three runs with Jack Firestone following up a RBI single with a two-run homer of his own.

The Chinooks scored a run in the top of the ninth to make it 5-2 with two outs to play with. An error by the Chinooks' second basemen scored two runs, but the Rockers would not be able to close the gap entirely as Mikey Kluska ended the game on a lineout.

The Rockers head to Wausau for a pair of road games against the Wisconsin Woodchucks beginning on Tuesday.
