Bays sneak past Ports on 105.1 The GOAT

A pitcher's duel had to be settled in the ninth inning as the Sister Bay Bays beat West Jacksonport 4-2 Sunday afternoon.

The Bays' Sam Forkert and the Ports' Luke Steebs were the two dueling All-Stars that would not factor into the decision, but played a large role with how the game would turn out. Steebs got off to a fast start, but an RBI groundout from Tom Sawyer and a run-scoring double from Forkert gave the Bays a 2-0 lead.

The Ports would finally get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning when Jaeger Brusky and Riley Cordier hit back-to-back doubles to tie the game at two apiece.

That's where the game would stay thanks to Matt Hecht, who came in to relieve Forkert in the fifth inning. He would close out the game from there, striking out nine along the way, matching Steebs' effort across eight innings.

With Drew Tanck on the mound, Griffin Cole scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch while Hecht would score an insurance run later in the inning. Hecht closed the game out with a 1-2-3 inning to win it.

In other Door County Baseball League action, Trevor Reinhardt hit for the cycle and earned the win in Kolberg's 19-4 victory.
