Rafters float past Rockers

The weather showed mercy but the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters did not as they beat the Green Bay Rockers 10-2 in seven innings Monday afternoon.

The Rafters outhit the Rockers 14-4 and received help with three errors as well. Two of those errors came from catchers Shane Gipson and Nainoa Cardinez on errant throws to third base that brought home additional runs. Starting pitcher Kyle Stoddard failed to go two innings, giving up four runs and three walks.

The score was 9-0 when Griffin Stevens went yard on the third pitch he saw in the sixth inning. Brendan Ryan's RBI single made it 9-2.

After the Rafters made it 10-2 in the seventh inning, the Rockers were only able to send two batters to the plate before the rains came, washing out the rest of the game.

The Rockers play again on Wednesday when they travel to Madison to play the Mallards.
