Cubs club Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning but could make it hold up as the Chicago Cubs came back to claim an 8-3 victory at American Family Field.

Starting Cub Pitcher Kyle Hendricks had to leave the game after three innings with a shoulder injury, but three Chicago relievers gave up only one run and three hits the rest of the way.

Rowdy Tellez hit his 17th home run of the season with a two-run shot in the first inning for a promising start for the Brewers, but Milwaukee’s bats fell quite after that.

Seiya Suzuki led the Cubs attack with two hits and three RBIs including his sixth home run of the year.

Starting pitcher Jason Alexander (2-1) gave up eight hits and six earned runs in 5.1 innings and took the loss, while Matt Swarmer (2-3) picked up the win in relief for the Cubs.

The Brewers and Cubs will face off this afternoon in the rubber game of the three-game series with first pitch at 1:10 pm.
