Cubs take series from Brewers late

Just as rare as a rainstorm under a roof, Josh Hader saw a second game in a series get away from him as the Milwaukee Brewers dropped the series finale against the Chicago Cubs 2-1.

Corbin Burnes was his usual Cy Young self as he held the Cubs to just three hits while striking out 10 batters through seven innings. He was nearly matched by his counterpart Adrian Sampson, but Keston Hiura took him deep in the fifth inning to make 1-0 Brewers. The home run came right after he robbed Cubs catcher P.J. Higgins of an extra base hit in the top half of the frame, which would have likely driven in the Cubs' first run. The Cubs would tie the game in the eighth inning when Christian Morel hit a triple and was driven home a few batters later by Rafael Ortega. Higgins would get his RBI in the ninth against Hader to drive in Patrick Wisdom before David Robertson did not let Monday repeat itself and closed the door for the Cubs. It was the second time in the series that Hader could not get the job done, blowing the save in Monday's game before the Brewers were able to tie and eventually win the contest.

The Brewers are back in action on Friday when they host the Pittsburgh Pirates.
