Top 2 K/D fish weighed in at Baileys Harbor

More than 220 20-pound-plus Chinooks have been weighed through the first four days of the 40th annual Kewaunee/Door County Salmon Tournament, including a trio of 30-pounders and 57 that are 25 pounds or larger.

Baileys Harbor, Sturgeon Bay, Washington Island and Kewaunee all moved fish into the top 25, and an Algoma fish slid into the 31st spot.

Topping the day’s catch was a new second place giant, a 30.54-pounder that hit a spoon two hours before sunset out of Baileys Harbor (shown here). Jim Loos of Wausau was the lucky angler.

For the fourth straight day, Lake Michigan was fairly calm. That will change when a southwest wind switches to south 10 to 20 knots Tuesday afternoon, increasing overnight with gales and small craft warnings possible. The wind is then predicted to go west 10 to 20 knots Wednesday, and stay offshore Thursday and Friday. That should upwell much cooler water into the nearshore areas at most locations.

MONDAY'S PORT PRIZE WINNERS

Jim Loos, 30.54, BH; Chris Lancaste, 27.48, SB; Jerry Moench, 27.36, WI; William Capelle, 26.70, K; WI; Bart Hardy, 26.04, A.
