American League tops National League, Williams pitches

Milwaukee Brewer relief pitcher Devin Williams threw a scoreless seventh inning for the National League, but the American League continued their dominance in the Major League All-Star Game with a 3-2 victory in Los Angeles on Tuesday night.  The National League jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a Paul Goldschmidt solo home run to start out strong.  That lead stood until the top of the fourth inning when Giancarlo Stanton crushed a 457-foot home run to tie up the game at 2-2.  Minnesota Twin outfielder Byron Buxton followed with a solo homer to give the National League a 3-2 lead the held up the rest of the way.  Williams allowed just one hit in the seventh inning while striking out two.  Brewer starting pitcher Corbin Burnes did not play in the game and Josh Hader had declined the opportunity.  It was the ninth consecutive victory in the mid-summer classic for the American League.
