A different kind of football is getting ready to take the hallowed grounds of Lambeau Field this Saturday.
Preparations for the USA Cup featuring Manchester City and Bayern Munich will begin on Thursday afternoon when they paint the lines for the field. The goalposts and other sideline features will be installed Friday morning. This will be the first international soccer match held in Lambeau Field in its history.
The Packers expect a near-capacity crowd for the friendly with limited tickets still available. The Packers, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich are all planning to host activities Friday and Saturday to welcome soccer fans from 19 different countries and all 50 states.
Both squads got off to good starts in their international preseason schedule. Manchester City topped Club America 2-1 in their friendly at NRG Stadium in Houston Wednesday night. Bayern Munich toppled D.C. United 6-2 in their tune-up.
