For the first time in franchise history, the Wisconsin Glo were not crowned the Global Women’s Basketball Association champions.
The Glo lost to the Flint Monarchs 72-70 in the championship game after nearly being upset in the semifinals 81-78 by the Detroit Queens.
The back-and-forth affair went until the final seconds when the Monarchs were able to take the lead with just seconds left in the game. The Glo were leading 70-68 when the Monarchs hit a frantic three-point shot on a foul.
The loss ended a string of three straight GWBA championships for the Glo.
