The Green Bay Packers made a flurry of moves on Wednesday ahead of their first preseason game on Friday.
The Packers signed S Micah Abernathy and RB Dexter Williams while also releasing WR Osirus Mitchell and LS Steven Wirtel on Wednesday.
Both Abernathy and Williams played in the USFL this past offseason and provide depth at positions where there have been some injuries. Williams is on his second tour with the team after being originally drafted by the Packers out of Notre Dame.
Mitchell became expendable in a crowded wide receiver room while Wirtel has not progressed since being a major issue with the team's kicking woes last year.
The Packers play the San Francisco 49ers on Friday.
