The first local high school athletic event of the upcoming school year will take place on the golf course this morning in Oconto.
Luxemburg-Casco and Sturgeon Bay are slated to join Bonduel, NEW Lutheran, Oconto, and Oconto Falls at River Island Golf Course in Oconto Falls for their first competition of the season.
The Spartans took sixth in their own regional last year, shooting a 440. The top returner for the Spartans could be senior Jane Olson and junior Bowie Bredael, who both finished in the top 25 in the WIAA Regional hosted on their home course of Northbrook Country Club. The Clippers had no participants in the meet.
Tee time is set for 9 a.m. on Thursday. Bonduel, Oconto, Sturgeon Bay, Oconto Falls, and Luxemburg-Casco will compete against each other again Friday when they travel to Irish Greens Golf Course in Oconto beginning at 9 a.m.
