Brewers drop game, series to Cardinals

A pair of late Cardinals homers doomed the Milwaukee Brewers Sunday afternoon as they lost in St. Louis 6-3.

Hunter Renfroe's 20th homer of the year put the first two runs on the board for the Brewers, with Albert Pujols getting one of those runs back in the bottom half of the inning. That continued a theme for the Cardinals, who got a sixth-inning homer from Tyler O'Neil and a pair of eighth-inning dingers from Dylan Carlson and Pujols in the eighth inning to flip the script from a 2-1 deficit to a 6-2 lead. Rowdy Tellez added on his 24th homer of the season of the ninth, but the offense would stall after that. Taylor Rogers took the Brewers' loss after giving up the two homers in the eighth.

The Brewers return home  Monday to face the Los Angeles Dodgers for a 7:10 p.m. first pitch.
