Luxemburg-Casco falls to Little Chute on 96.7 WBDK

The battle of the L-Cs ended with the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans falling just short against the Little Chute Mustangs, 14-8, in a North Eastern Conference thriller at Fitzpatrick Field.

Little Chute opened the game with a 73-yard drive that culminated by a four-yard touchdown run by Drew Joten.  The Spartans responded with a 65-yard drive of their own on a 38-yard strike from quarterback Max Ronsman to Ryan Routhieaux to cut the Mustang lead to 7-6.  Ronsman then scrambled and scored on a two-point conversion to give the Spartans an 8-7 lead with 1:30 left in the first quarter.

The only other scoring during the night came when Mustang quarterback Charlie VandenBurgt hit his big receiver, Hunter Thiel, on a 27-yard touchdown pass with 6:09 left in the half.

The second half saw the Spartans get into Little Chute territory but turn the ball over on downs as the Mustang defense contained the Luxemburg-Casco offense the rest of the way.

The Spartans did have one final chance when the defense held Little Chute on fourth down with just under two minutes left at the Spartan 10-yard line, but a desperation drive ended at mid-field on a short completion to Sawyer Dorn.

Luxemburg-Casco (2-1, 4-1 overall) will now host Freedom next Friday for Homecoming in a game that will be broadcast on New Radio Sports Network.  Paul Schmitt and Reece Robillard will have the call from the Luxemburg-Casco Sports Complex.
