Brewers fall to Cardinals, St. Louis clinches NL Central

Time to claim a wild card spot is running out for the Milwaukee Brewers after dropping a 6-2 game to the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday night at home.

The Cardinals jumped to a 6-0 lead in the game and clinched the division with one week left in the season.

Adrian Houser (6-10) started for the Brewers and took the loss giving up three runs in 3.1 innings.

The Brewers could only manage an RBI single by Garrett Mitchell in the sixth inning and a seventh inning home run by Rowdy Tellez, his 34th of the season.

Milwaukee (82-72) still trail the Philadelphia Phillies by 1.5 games for the  final National League Wild Card spot with eight games remaining.

The Brewers and Cardinals finish their two-game series Wednesday night at American Family Field with first pitch set for 6:40 pm.
