Milwaukee Brewers Devin Williams had a rare meltdown in the ninth inning as the Miami Marlins walked out of American Family Field Saturday night with a 4-3 victory.
The Marlins took the early lead with a two-run homer by Peyton Burdick in the third inning, only to see the lead cut in half by a Christian Yelich bomb in the fourth inning.
The Brewers would take the lead in the sixth when Luis Urias took a hit by pitch with the bases loaded and Victor Caratini drove in a second run on an RBI groundout.
A two-run single by Bryan De La Cruz made worse on an error by Yelich gave the Marlins the lead and the win, preventing the Brewers from taking advantage of a doubleheader split by the Phillies in their trip to Washington D.C.
The Brewers enter their rubber match matinee against the Marlins still one game behind the Phillies.
