Brewers eliminated from postseason contention despite win

The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks with a come-behind victory Monday, but it did not mean much in terms of the National League playoff picture.

You can thank Hunter Renfroe for the dramatics in the Brewers' 6-5 win over the Diamondbacks. He delivered a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth and a walk-off RBI single in the 10th inning to give the Brewers their 85th victory. Christian Yelich homered, and Willy Adames also drove in runs, while Victor Caratini was the beneficiary of a Diamondbacks error that brought home two runners to tie the game at 4-4.

Sadly for the Brewers, Kyle Schwarber homered twice to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 3-0. The victory gave the Phillies the final spot in the National League playoff picture, edging the Brewers out no matter how the final two games of the season go.

The Brewers are back in action against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday night at 6:40 p.m.
