Brewers drop season finale against Diamondbacks

Fans of the Milwaukee Brewers will have to wait until next February to cheer on their team after they dropped the season finale on Wednesday 4-2 to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Even with Corbin Burnes starting, the game ended up being like a bullpen game with five pitchers taking the mound with no one pitching more than five innings. Burnes' five strikeouts gave him 243 on the season, making him the 2022 National League strikeout king.

Christian Walker opened the scoring for the Diamondbacks with an RBI single in the 4th inning, only to be matched by a Tyrone Taylor RBI groundout in the fifth. Rowdy Tellez gave the 18,765 fans in attendance a chance at a happy finale with a solo homer in the eighth, giving him 35 home runs on the season. Trevor Gott could not close the door for the Brewers, allowing homers to Josh Rojas and Corbin Carroll to let the Diamondbacks to take the lead. They had the tying run on in the bottom of the ninth, but Keston Hiura and Victor Caratini were unable to cash in, sending the Brewers to the 4-2 loss and a 86-76 record.
