Southern Door's Ben Grota and Kewaunee's Hannah Miller had the best days for local runners, but neither could lead their team's to victories on a chilly afternoon at Gibraltar for the Packerland Conference Cross Country Championships.
Peshtigo won the boys' race with 36 points, topping Kewaunee (48), Oconto (76), and Southern Door (76 points). The Bulldogs' Andrew Nelson won with a time of 17:30. Grota came in second place with a time of 18:04.
The Bulldogs also won the girls' race with 38 points, edging out 2021 champion Sevastopol (48 Points), Sturgeon Bay (88), Kewaunee (110), Oconto (129), Southern Door (141), Providence Academy/NEW Lutheran (151), and Gibraltar (167). Rachel Nelson ran a personal best 20:31 on the 5K course, outkicking Miller (20:50) for the victory.
