Five local athletes capture top Packerland honors

Gibraltar/Sevastopol's Theo Goode, Kewaunee's Mitchell Thompson, and Southern Door's Taylor Schaefer, Kody Marchant, and Lance LeGrave were named the Packerland Conference's top player in their respective sports.

 

Goode won the top spot for the All-Packerland Conference soccer team, one of four to be named to the first team, second team, or honorable mention. Sturgeon Bay placed seven, and Kewaunee and Algoma each had five. 

 

Schaefer was named the top defensive player, and Thompson captured top offensive player honors for the All-Packerland Conference football team. Marchant and LeGrave captured top lineman honors. Kewaunee took 17 spots across three teams, followed by Southern Door's 14. Sturgeon Bay placed 14 players on the teams as well.

 

The Peninsula Conference, made up of the area's Eight-Player teams, was not included in the press release sent by Commissioner Mike Holtz.

 

For volleyball, NEW Lutheran's Greta Wise was named the Player of the Year as a part of the All-Packerland Conference volleyball team. Regional champion Sevastopol placed five across the three teams, followed by four for regional finalist Southern Door, two for Gibraltar, three for Sturgeon Bay, and four for Algoma.
