Sturgeon Bay's Braschnewitz saves SO shot, season on U-1021

Emmett Braschnewitz picked a good time for the biggest save of his career, leading Sturgeon Bay to the sectional final in a 1-1 (7-6 SO) victory over Kiel on Thursday.

After the full time of 80 minutes, the score was 0-0. In the second overtime period, Sturgeon Bay was able to take the lead with a headed-in goal by Laden Hintz,  but that lasted for only a minute as the Kiel Raiders tied in with 2 minutes to go in the game.

Through the first 6 rounds of the shoot-out, both teams were perfect until Isaac Marsh put the Clippers ahead 7-6, and the Clippers’ keeper Braschnewitz stopped the PK, sending Sturgeon Bay to Sectional Finals in Kiel Saturday.

The sectional final match pitting the Clippers against top-seeded Sheboygan Christian/Sheboygan Lutheran will be on U-102.1 at 4 p.m. on Saturday. It is a rematch of last year's sectional semi-final that saw the Clippers lose 3-1.
