Phoenix women take first Michigan Tech matchup, men's turn on Thursday

The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team had to come from behind in its 68-64 victory over Michigan Tech in its exhibition finale.

The Huskies came to play early, jumping out to a 9-0 lead in the first quarter and hit nine three-pointers en route to a 36-31 halftime lead. The Phoenix were able to clamp down on defense, allowing just 32 points the rest of the way.

Limited statistics from the game were shared but the Phoenix were led by Hailey Oskey's 21 points and Bailey Butler's 23 points. Isabella Lenz scored 14 points while two others added 11. The game did feature two Kewaunee County products in Luxemburg-Casco's Cassie Schiltz (Green Bay) and Kewaunee's Sara Dax (Michigan Tech).

The two school's men's teams will tip off against each other at 7 p.m. at the Kress Events Center. The Phoenix already had its own scare against a Division III team when they narrowly defeated St. Norbert last week. The game will act as the Huskies' lone exhibition.
