Phoenix teams' deficits turn into double-digit losses

Both Green Bay basketball teams kept things close in their respective games for the first half before suffering lopsided losses on Monday night.

 

In Des Moines, the Phoenix women were tied at 17 apiece after one quarter and were down by five at half before falling 80-67 to Drake. Tatum Koenig had a strong debut with 13 points for the Phoenix while Luxemburg-Casco product Cassie Schlitz chipped in 12 points in the loss. The Bulldogs had four players in double figures, led by Grace Berg's 20 points. They host Marist on Saturday.

 

The Phoenix men were trailing by just three points at halftime, but were outscored by 24 in the second half in a 80-64 loss at Indiana State. Davin Zeigler had a sparkling debut for the Phoenix as the only player to reach double-figures with 19 points. Zae Blake was the next leading scorer with nine points off the bench. They will play Georgetown on Saturday.
