Badgers Basketball teams win matchups

Both of the Wisconsin Badgers basketball teams came away from their opening games with a win last night.

The Badgers mens’ team took on South Dakota, and cruised to a 85-59 victory at the Kohl Center. Wisconsin was led by Forward Tyler Wahl, who scored 2 points in the first half, and ended with a team high 19. Transfer Max Klesmit from Neenah High School added 11 points of his own, and Chucky Hepburn scored 14.

South Dakota was led by Kruz Perrott-Hunt who scored 21 points.

The women’s team for the Badgers also came away with a win as they beat in state foe University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee 58-49. Although the Badgers were outscored in the second half of the game, Wisconsin was too much for the Panthers out of the gate. The Badgers were led by Redshirt Freshman Maty Wilke with 12 points, and Brooke Schramek sprinkled in 11 points as well.

The UW-Milwaukee comeback fell just short, but not without a great effort from Angie Cera, who scored 11 points in 28 minutes.

Both teams will be in action on Friday during the Brew City Battle at American Family Field. The womens’ team will take on Kansas State at 3:30, and the men's team faces Stanford at 6:30.
