Packers place Gary on IR, pick up practice squad player

The inevitable occurred on Wednesday with Green Bay Packers linebacker Rashan Gary being placed on the injured reserve list.

Gary tore his ACL during Sunday's 15-9 loss to Detroit, adding salt to the wound that has been the team's defense so far this season.

The Packers also signed WR Jeff Cotton to the practice squad. According to Packers.com, Cotton is a first-year player out of the University of Idaho. He has spent the bulk of his career on practice squads for the Los Angeles Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Arizona Cardinals. His only game action came last season when he was a COVID-19 replacement. Cotton will wear No. 82 for the Packers.
