More sports join winter sports fray

Three more sports can start practices as soon as Monday as the winter season starts to ramp up.

Boys' basketball, wrestling, and boys' swimming and diving can all begin practicing to kick off the new week.

In boys' basketball, Gibraltar is coming off an appearance in the state semi-finals last year to lead the way for the area's teams. You can find season previews later this week at NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com.

In wrestling, Max Ronsman of Luxemburg-Casco may have to wait a while to begin his state title defense after suffering a lower-body injury during the football season. Another state qualifier and former state champion, Easton Worachek of Luxemburg-Casco, announced over the weekend that he will continue his wrestling career at UW-Parkside.

In boys' swimming, the Door County United team hopes to build on last year's success that saw them finish in the top dozen in the state.

Competitions for boys' basketball, wrestling, and boys' swimming and diving can start as soon as next week.
