Phoenix head south for weekend

Both Green Bay basketball teams are heading south for the weekend, though the men will have a more tropical trip compared to the women.

The Phoenix men open their tournament play at the Jersey Mike's Jamaica Classic at 10:30 a.m. when they battle Queens University, North Carolina. After getting blown out in their first two games against Indiana State and Georgetown, the Phoenix nearly took advantage of a poor shooting Wisconsin team in a 56-45 loss at the Kohl Center earlier in the week. Zae Black was perfect from the field against the Badgers as he scored 15 points in the loss. The Royals are off to a 2-1 start thanks to solid contributions from Kenny Dye. Dye, a senior guard, paces the team in points (18.3) and assists per game (6.0).

The Phoenix women head to St. Louis for a matchup against the Billikens. After dropping their season opener against Draker, Hailey Oskey led the Phoenix with 19 points as the team outscored Marist 46-24 after the break in a 74-45 win at home. The Billikens are 1-3 on the season, including two straight losses to Northern Iowa and Missouri State. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
