Phoenix men fall apart again, Phoenix women sneak past St. Louis

The Green Bay Phoenix basketball teams finished Friday with mixed results.

In Jamaica, the Phoenix men held a one-point lead a few minutes into the second half but were eventually outscored 47-30 in the final frame to lose to Queens University (NC). As has been the case in three of their first four games, an 18-2 Queens' run that spanned 7:46 was what decided the game for the Phoenix. Cade Meyer led the way with 10 points while  Nate Jenkins, Clarence Cummings III, Davin Zeigler, and Garren Davis each tallied eight points. They will play Utah Valley State in their second game of Jersey Mike's Jamaica Classic on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

At St. Louis, Luxemburg-Casco product Cassie Schiltz and two others knocked down some clutch field goals at the end of regulation to lead the Phoenix past the Billikens 73-70. The Billikens chipped away at a double-digit lead in the first half to make things interesting in the fourth quarter. The Phoenix had all five starters score in double figures, led by Cassie Schiltz's 14 points. Bailey Butler tacked on 13 points, and Hailey Oskey filled the stat sheet with 13 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals. They will celebrate Thanksgiving in their own tropical paradise with a 2 p.m. matchup against Florida.
