Phoenix men return from Jamaica winless

The white sands of Jamaica offered no solace for the Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team over the weekend, dropping their second game to Utah Valley Sunday night  79-56.

Big runs killed the Phoenix again as they gave up a 19-4 advantage after being tied 11-11 after the first seven minutes of the ball game. After building up some positive momentum at the end of the half by scoring eight of the final 11 points to make it 33-22 at the break, the Phoenix let the Wolverines go on a 12-2 run to kick off the second half to put the game well out of reach.

Clarence Cummings III led the way with 16 points with Cade Meyer adding nine points and Brock Heffner and Zae Blake each chipping in eight.

The Phoenix will return to action on Saturday when they host former Horizon League foe UIC for a 6 p.m. tip at the Kress Center.
