Badgers host Golden Gophers in fight for Paul Bunyan's Axe

It is Axe Week for the Wisconsin Badgers as they host their rivals the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday afternoon.

Wisconsin is fresh off of a win over the Nebraska Cornhuskers last week by way of a 15-14 last second win. With 35 seconds remaining, Junior Quarterback Graham Mertz took a sneak up the middle that gave Wisconsin the 15-14 lead. Strong second half play from the defense shut the door on the Cornhuskers chances to win. Now the Badgers will turn their attention to their rivals to the west, the Minnesota Gophers. Fueled by the loss last season, Wisconsin will look to get the axe back in their possession, and finish the season off strong before their bowl game.

Minnesota is 7-4 on the season and is third in the Big Ten West going into the matchup with the Badgers. The Golden Gophers are led by Running Back Mohammed Ibrahim and long time Quarterback Tanner Morgan. Minnesota is coming off of a 13-10 loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes, and will be looking to keep the axe where it is, in Minneapolis.

The Badgers and Gophers are set to kick off at 2:30 P.M.
