Brewers trade Wong for two MLB players

The Milwaukee Brewers are once again active in the trade market, this time it comes right before the Winter Meetings.

The Milwaukee Brewers have traded Second Baseman and two time Gold Glove winner Kolten Wong to the Seattle Mariners. Milwaukee will get outfielder Jesse Winker and Utility player Abraham Toro back from Seattle, both quality major league players that could end up making their mark on the upcoming season depending on their playing time.

Winker was an All-Star with the Cincinnati Reds back in 2021, and was traded to the Seattle Mariners before the 2022 season. Winker did not have a good season last year, batting .219 with 14 home runs and 53 RBIs. He has however, been known to play well in Milwaukee, and was a player no Milwaukee pitcher wanted to face in 2021.

As for Kolten Wong, it appears that Milwaukee was looking to shop Wong all offseason after picking up his 10 Million dollar player option. Wong batted a strong .251 while battling an oblique injury on and off throughout the season. As for replacing him, the Brewers will have options. Whether that means improving Keston Huira’s defense and playing him there, moving Luis Urias to second base and signing a third baseman, or seeing what prospect Bryce Turang has to offer, Milwaukee seems to think they have the answer if they are willing to part ways with Wong.

Expect even more news to come from Milwaukee, and the whole MLB as a whole soon as the Winter Meetings will begin December 4th.
