Spartans top Wrightstown on 104.1 WRLU

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans hung on to defeat the Wrightstown Tigers in a North Eastern Conference 54-49 on Tuesday night.

The Spartans used a suffocating zone defense in the first half and forced numerous turnovers to claim a 28-10 lead at halftime.   The Tigers managed only four made field goals and leading scorer Keegan Spees was held to just three points in the first half after sitting out much of it with two early fouls.

Luxemburg-Casco continued to dominate in the second half building up as much as a 19 point lead before Wrightstown mounted a furious comeback.  The Tigers were able to cut the lead to three points with under four minutes to go, but could not get any closer.

Chase Bukouricz led the way for the Spartans with 17 points, hitting five big free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.  Jack Rollin added 15 points and great floor game steady L-C when they needed it.

Ethan Cyra had a team-high 15 points for the Tigers who fell to 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the NEC.

Luxemburg-Casco improved to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference.  The Spartans will now take on Denmark Friday night.

The next broadcast game will be on Thursday, December 22 as the Spartans host the Freedom Irish.  The pregame is set for 7:15 pm on 104.1 WRLU and tip off at 7:30 pm from Luxemburg-Casco High School.  Paul Schmitt and Reece Robillard will have the play-by-play of the game that will also be streamed on New Radio Sports Network.
