Gibraltar girls can't catch Oconto on U-1021

Long-scoring droughts spelled big troubles for the Gibraltar girls' basketball team as they lost to Oconto 67-33 in Packerland Conference action.

The first half featured just 10 points for the Vikings' offense while the Blue Devils' Addisyn Viestenz sliced her way through the defense, scoring 13 of her game-high 17 points in the opening frame.

The second half saw more balanced scoring from both line-ups as the coaches went deep into their bench with the Blue Devils holding a 30-plus point lead. Andie Schar ended the game scoring nine of her team-high 12 points after the break while Betsy Lecy hit two more three-pointers to end her evening with nine points. Viestenz received complementary play from Rylie Shallow's nine points, Natalie Schlueter's eight points, and seven points from Alyse Viestenz and Gracie Simon.

The Vikings dropped to 0-6 on the season including 0-3 in the Packerland Conference. Their next game is on Friday against Peshtigo. U-1021 will broadcast the Vikings' game next Thursday when they play at Sevastopol.
