The men are on the road and the women are at home, but either way the Green Bay basketball programs will be facing the Horizon League's Detroit contingent over the next few days.
The Phoenix women have won five games in a row heading into their Thursday matchup against Oakland and Detroit-Mercy on Saturday. That includes a 92-42 throttling of Chicago State ahead of Christmas. The Golden Grizzlies have won three of their last four games and have a 1-1 mark in the Horizon League just like the Phoenix. The Titans have only won twice in 11 tries this season as they adjust to a new coach. The Phoenix play the Golden Grizzlies on Thursday at 7 p.m. and the Titans on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Phoenix men will do the inverse of the women's schedule, playing the Titans on Thursday at 6 p.m. before a Saturday noon matchup against the Golden Grizzlies. Cade Meyer, an All-Horizon League Freshman Team member last year, is starting to break out of his sophomore slump. He scored a career-high 25 points in Green Bay's win against Kansas City on December 10th and 24 points in the loss at St. Thomas on December 13th. All three teams are trying to dig themselves out from sub-.500 records.
