Wrestling round-up: Nearly a dozen make it second day of Bi-State, OTW Tournaments

Several wrestlers from Door and Kewaunee counties still have plenty of wrestling in 2022 left, two of which are in line for individual championships.

 

For Luxemburg-Casco, At least six wrestlers are still alive from Luxemburg-Casco at this week's Bi-State Classic taking place at the LaCrosse Center. Leading the way is Easton Worachek, who pinned his way to the quarterfinals before earning a semifinal berth with a major decision. Jake Jandrin, Michael Bostwick, Isaac Jerabek, and Blakelee Bastien won their final matches. Trace Schoenebeck is also alive in the tournament, losing his first match of the day in the quarterfinals. Wrestling begins again at 9:15 a.m.

 

At the Oshkosh, the Kewaunee Storm sits in 28th place with 67 points with more opportunities to climb up the standings on the second day of the On the Water Wrestling Classic. Mitchell Thompson is in line to potentially win the tournament after nearly following up two earlier pins with a major decision in the quarterfinal. Ezra Ducat remains in the running after suffering his first loss in the quarterfinals while Mitchell Boeder earned his day two spot with a win in the consolation bracket to end his day on a positive note. 

 

Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol's Ben Roman is still alive for a Top-8 finish at the On The Water Wresting Tournament hosted by Lourdes Academy at UW-Oshkosh. The Clippineers are in 53rd place with 36 points with three wrestlers still alive for medals. Roman, wrestling at 285 pounds, registered two pins before losing a heartbreaking match by one point to send him from the quarterfinals to the consolation bracket. Zak Wrobel and Spencer Madsen also kept their tournament journeys alive with wins in their day's final matches.

 

One Southern Door wrestler remains after the first day of the On the Water Wrestling Classic. After losing in the third round of the championship bracket, Hayden Jeanquart pinned his opponent to keep his tournament hopes alive in the consolation round. The Eagles are in 52nd place with 37.5 points.
