Green Bay basketball continues Detroit swing Saturday

The Green Bay Phoenix basketball teams will continue their battles against Detroit-area teams on Saturday after mixed results on Thursday.

The Phoenix men will drive about 30 minutes north to Oakland after losing to Detroit-Mercy 76-59. The Titans outrebounded the Phoenix 43-28 to open up more opportunities for them to build their lead. They also took advantage of the Phoenix's mistakes, turning 13 turnovers into 25 points. The Phoenix on the flipside turned 12 turnovers into just 11 points. Zae Blake led the Phoenix with fourteen points while Clarence Cummings III added 13 points in the loss. The Golden Grizzlies walloped Milwaukee 83-61 before they host the Phoenix on Saturday at noon.

The Phoenix women fought tooth and nail with the Golden Grizzlies in the first half, only to outscore them 32-13 in the second half to win the game easily 64-42. Maddy Schreiber continued her strong sophomore season with a team-leading 14 points. Sydney Levy collected the first Phoenix double-double in close to two years with 13 points and 11 rebounds. The Phoenix limited the Golden Grizzlies to under 22 percent from the field despite allowing them to score the first eight points of the game. The Lady Titans were smoked by Milwaukee 63-29 before they play the Phoenix on Saturday at 1 p.m.
