Packers control destiny after routing Vikings

The Green Bay Packers scored almost every which way imaginable as they kept their season alive with a 41-17 beating of the Minnesota Vikings Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field.

The Packers could have found themselves in a deeper hole early in the first quarter when the Vikings blocked a punt and had it goal to go from the Green Bay one-yard line. The defense stood tall and forced the Vikings to kick a field goal. Keisean Nixon answered the bell despite not practicing all week, taking the ensuing kickoff 105 yards to make it 7-3. The Packers would score next on a 75-yard interception return by Darnell Savage to make it 14-3.

The Packers would score on every drive they had in the second quarter with a pair of field goals flanking a 21-yard toss from Aaron Rodgers to Robert Tonyan, giving the Packers a 27-3 lead heading into the break. The second field goal by Mason Crosby was especially dramatic since it was one of the longest field goals he has ever made at Lambeau Field that late in the season and it bounced off the crossbar before it went through.

After no one scored in the third quarter. The Packers would score a pair of touchdowns on runs by AJ Dillon and Rodgers to make it 41-3. The Vikings would score a pair of touchdowns of their own with the game well in hand for the Packers.

As of Sunday night, no decision has been made on when the Packers will play their regular season and home finale against the Detroit Lions next weekend.
