Spartan girls fall to Marinette on 104.1 WRLU

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartan girls battled but came up short to the Marinette Marines 47-40 in a North Eastern Conference matchup Tuesday evening in Luxemburg.

The first half was dictated by pressing defense and several turnovers by both teams, as the Spartans trailed by as much as eight points but rallied and pull within two points at 16-14 at intermission.

The Spartans stayed close until the final minutes, but the Marines sealed the win with free throws by hitting 11 shots from the charity stripe in the second half alone.

Marinette was led by Riley Kieffer with 11 points, eight of those in the second half.  The Spartans were led by Samantha Treml who scored nine points with Alana Mrotek and Alayna Deprez adding eight.

Luxemburg-Casco (5-5, 7-8 overall) will now travel to Oconto Falls to take on the Panthers Thursday night.
