The Door County YMCA Striver Gymnastic Team continues to “tumble to the top!” The Striver Team competed in the “Tundra Invitational” this past weekend at the Green Bay YMCA. The Striver Team returned home with two Team Trophies and 33 individual event medals.
The Striver’s Excel Silver Team attended the competition one gymnast short of their full squad. The Silver team placed 3rd out of six teams. The Silver Team has 6 members, five of them are in their first year of competition.
Medaling for the group were Ellie Kelsey in the 9 and under group. Ellie placed 1st on vault, floor, beam, and all around. Teammate Delaney Allen, 9 and under placed 1st on bars. Keira Clark in the 10–11-year-old group placed 1st on bars and 4th in the all-around. Evelynn Kelsey placed 2nd on vault and 4th on bars. Lauren Gaida, in the 12 and older group, grabbed gold on vault, silver in the all-around and bars. Lauren captured bronze on floor.
The Excel Platinum Team returned home with a 1st place team finish. Amelia Zoschke in the 12 and under group earned Gold in the All-around, floor, and vault. Amelia returned home with silver on beam and bars. Alexa Jimenez-Seyfer grabbed gold on bars and silver vault, beam and the all-around. Anna Gallardo-Ibarra in the 14 and over group won beam.
The Striver Level 6 Team competed tumbled to a 3rd place Team finish out of 10 Teams. In the 13 and under age group, Sophia Sternard grabbed gold on floor, silver in the all-around and bronze on vault. Teammate Amira Anschutz earned silver on bars and bronze in the all-around. Shylee Asher placed 4th on bars and 6th in the all-around. Portia Hah placed 5th on bars, 6th on vault and 7th in the all-around.
The Striver Girls have tumbled to numerous victories already this season. The girls will continue tumbling and compete in the State Meet in March in Marinette, WI. The girls will compete in the YMCA Gymnastic Nationals this June in Cincinnati, Ohio.
