As the pairings were announced on Sunday, the Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol wrestling team received a pleasant surprise.
Clippineers wrestler Tiani Lemieux (165 lbs) was placed in the girls' state wrestling field after taking second place in her sectional field. Originally, only each weight class' champion received a bid to the inaugural girls' state tournament. On Thursday, Lemieux will wrestle Cyriana Reinwald of Horicon (HORI). She joins Southern Door's Nora LeFevre and Hailey Veeser as the first three girls' state tournament participants in Door County history.
