Brewers swept in split doubleheader

The Milwaukee Brewers dropped to 1-2 on the spring season after losing both ends of a split doubleheader on Sunday.

In their 12-6 loss to the Colorado Rockies, Brewers pitchers gave up crooked numbers in the second, seventh, and eighth innings to put the game out of reach. Keston Hiura opened the game with an RBI hit and was later joined in that department by Payton Henry and Scott Turang as the Brewers opened the game with a 3-0 lead. Joey Wiemer, Hendry Mendez, and Terence Dotson also knocked in runs for the Brewers.

In their 11-4 loss to the Oakland Athletics, the Brewers were down 4-0 before they even got up to bat and gave up two other big innings in the later stages of the game. Luis Urias homered in the bottom of the third inning to make it 5-1 and the Brewers would not score again until Eric Brown Jr. and Cam Devanney went yard in the ninth down 11-1.

The Brewers are back to work at 2:05 p.m. Monday when they play the Kansas City Royals.
