Badgers set for matchup against Buckeyes in Big Ten Tournament

The Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team will have work to do if they want to hear their names called on Sunday afternoon with a ticket punched to the “big dance”. That will start Wednesday afternoon with a matchup against the 13 seeded Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Badgers are coming off of a win against their border rivals Minnesota by a score of 71-67. Chucky Hepburn would be the hero in the second half, scoring all 12 of his points in that half, joined by Tyler Wahl with 21 points and Steven Crowl with 20. That broke a two game heartbreaking losing streak for the Badgers who lost against Michigan after a long heave from three from Hunter Dickinson would send the two teams into overtime, where the Badgers would fall. In the second loss of the streak, the Badgers would be in a tight game against Purdue down the stretch, and have a half court heave fall short for a two point loss.

In the last matchup between these two teams, Wisconsin snuck out a 65-60 win in Columbus. The Badgers had a 62-47 lead against the Buckeyes with 7:18 remaining in the second half, and then would go cold. Wisconsin would not hit another shot for the rest of the game, and would get three free throws from Chucky Hepburn to seal the win. The Badgers will look to avoid that scare in Indianapolis this weekend.

Wisconsin finds themselves as a true bubble team, with many different sites putting them in the field of play as the last teams in, with others having them as the first team out. The Badgers could control their own destiny and win the Big Ten Tournament and not worry about the bubble, but the team has not won back to back games since January 3rd against Minnesota after a win over Western Michigan.

Tip from Indianapolis is set for 5:30 P.M.
