Niagara falls as Green Bay women pick up first ever WNIT victory

The postseason will continue for the Green Bay women's basketball team as they ran past Niagara 84-52.

The Phoenix were able to coast in the second half after outscoring the Purple Eagles 25-5 in the second quarter. A 7-0 run in the first quarter and a four-minute defensive stand made it a comfortable  49-18 lead at the break.

Luxemburg-Casco alum Cassie Schiltz led the Phoenix with a career-high 22 points. Sydney Levy added 18 points and Jasmine Kondrakiewicz chipped in nine points. The Purple Eagles were led by Angel Parker, who scored 17 points as the team failed to shoot 30 percent as a team.

The Phoenix's first WNIT win means they get to stay at the Kress Center to host Bowling Green. The Falcons defeated Liberty 87-80 on Thursday to advance to the second round. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
