Algoma, Kewaunee finish off first week of indoor track

Two county rivals found themselves together at the same track meet for their second day of competition in as many days.

The Kewaunee track teams produced four event winners and several other top-five performances in Friday's Princeton/Green Lake Invitational hosted at Ripon College. On the boys' side, Christopher Cullen (400m), Maddix Mueller (high jump, triple jump), and the 4x800m relay all won their events. In addition, Cullen (800m), Maurits Chabre (3200m), Jordan Lamack (high jump,  triple jump), DJ Echos (long jump),  and the 4x400m relay produced top-five performances. For the girls, Hannah Miller (long jump, triple jump, 1600m), Wren Kunesh (pole vault),  Fany Pecout (60m, 400m), and the 4x400m relay captured top-five finishes.

It appears the Algoma track teams' success will lean on its field events after a strong showing by the specialists at the Princeton/Green Lake Invitational hosted by Ripon College Friday night. All six of its top-five finishers were in the field events. For the boys, Mason Melohn posted a personal record in the shot put, as did Braden Crewe in the high jump and Austin Miller in the pole vault. The girls stuck together for Algoma with Emily Kirchman and Faith Gerdmann finished 2 and 3 in the shootout. Vivika Meverden finished in the top five in high jump.
