Transfer portal wreaks havoc on Green Bay men's roster

For the third straight offseason, the Green Bay men's basketball will get a massive makeover thanks in part to the transfer portal.

WBAY reports that forward Cade Meyer and guard Davin Zeigler have entered the transfer portal just under two weeks after the school's athletic department announced the hiring of new head coach Sundance Wicks. Earlier this week, Zae Blake, Clarence Cummings III, and Randy Tucker entered the transfer portal according to WLUK. That represents five of the Phoenix's top six scorers leaving the program after a 3-29 season and two of the worst seasons in program history, which led to the firing of Will Ryan before the end of the year.

UPDATE: Since this story was published, Donovan Short, Garren Davis, and Nate Jenkins have also submitted their names into the transfer portal.

Losing players to the transfer portal has not been new for the Phoenix, which had almost complete roster turnover following the 2020-2021 and the 2021-2022 seasons.

In his various interviews since taking the job, Wicks has embraced the challenge of rebuilding a dormant program, pointing out that with the exception of the last coach, every person that has led the program has won at some point in their tenure.
