The second quarter proved fatal for the Green Bay Blizzard as they dropped their second straight game to start the season 55-41 to the Massachusetts Pirates.
The Blizzard were outscored 17-0 in the second quarter, rendering any attempt at a comeback against the Pirates futile. Trailing 31-7 in the third quarter, the Blizzard scored touchdowns on two straight possessions before they ended up trading scores with the Pirates the rest of the way.
Both the Blizzard's Ja'rome Johnson and the Pirates' Ale Bennefield threw for approximately 190 yards and three touchdowns, though it was Johnson that threw a costly pick. Both quarterbacks also ran for a pair of scores in the game.
The Blizzard's search for a win continues on Friday when they host Iowa at 6:05 p.m.
