Brewers bust through Cubs bullpen

It took over 16 innings to do it, but the Milwaukee Brewers scored their first runs of the year to secure their first win of the year, a 3-1 decision over the Chicago Cubs.

The Cubs' Keegan Thompson and the Brewers' Brandon Woodruff refused to give in to each others' hitters as they struck out over a dozen combined in the early going. Ian Happ hit a solo shot to make it 1-0 Cubs midway through the game. In the eighth inning, the Brewers were finally able to string together some hits to tie the game before William Contreas dealt the fatal blow with a two-run single in the eighth inning against World Baseball Classic hero Javier Assad. Devin Williams nailed down the save after allowing the tying run on base.

The rubber match at Wrigley Field is scheduled for 1:20 p.m.
