Brewers beat up on dismal Cubs bullpen

The actual weather may have been cold, but the offense against the Merryweather was red hot as the Milwaukee Brewers took the game and the series with a 9-5 win over the Chicago Cubs.

The Cubs and the Brewers traded runs through the first three innings, but the Brewers were able to pull ahead of the Cubs for good in the fourth inning when Garrett Mitchell tripled home to the go-ahead run in the fourth inning. The Brewers then abused Toronto Blue Jays castoff Julian Merryweather, tagging him for five runs in just two-thirds of an inning thanks to RBI hits by Jesse Winker, Mitchell, and Willy Adames and a sacrifice fly by Brian Anderson. Winker would tack on one more run in the seventh inning to put the game even further out of reach from the Cubs. Patrick Wisdom was the only thing right about the Cubs on Sunday with two solo shots in the game.

The Brewers return to American Family Field Monday afternoon for a tilt in front of a nearly sold-out crowd against the New York Mets.
